From the collection of the Museum of the American Indian, New York City, New York This beautiful necklace features five 22K Gold Plate Tairona Frogs, black onyx tubes and black onyx beads, (4mm) separated by gold spacers. Each frog is approx. 7/8" long and 5/8" wide.
This small frog, originally cast in gold, is from Bocas del Toro, Chiriqui, Panama. Due to thie increased activity and noise at the beginning of the rainy season, frogs were often associated with rain and fertility.
