During the reign of Emperor Nicholas I (1825 -1855), the distinguished artist Feodor Solntsev traveled the country documenting the peoples of the Empire and its artifacts. He was commissioned by the Emperor to document the treasures in the Armory of the Kremlin Palace.
This beautiful 22K Gold Plate Brooch, with a genuine pearl drop, measures approx. 1-5/8 inches high x 1-1/2 inches wide, is adapted from one of these detailed chrome lithographs. The lithographs were published in twelve volumes and now reside in The New York Public Library's Rare Russian Illustrated Book Collection.
